All good things should start with a nacho bar. And that’s exactly what you’ll get your first night here on campus, along with live entertainment, caricatures, rides and—did we mention nachos?
By the end of your first week, you can:
- Go to a drive-in movie (and eat plenty of popcorn)
- Laugh a little too loudly at a comedy show
- Eat your weight in fresh Maryland crabs
- Show off your moves at the Tiki Dance
- Make more friends than you thought possible
Block Party Weekend
The fun continues into Week 2 with a rock-climbing wall, inflatable games and a special activity—in 2015, it was hot air balloon rides. This is the time to get involved in the clubs and organizations you want to be a part of. The night ends with an outdoor concert in the middle of campus, where the headlining band might surprise you.
It’ll be nearly impossible to tell your family about all you’re doing at the Mount. FamilyFest is the perfect opportunity for them to come out and experience it with you. You can hike Indian Lookout together, enjoy a BBQ lunch and live music on Founder’s Plaza and introduce your parents to your favorite professors while your younger siblings have fun in the bounce house. You might even treat your family to lunch for a change, even if it is on your MOUNTCard.
At Homecoming, you’ll experience firsthand what it means to be a “maniac.” A Mount Maniac. You’ll go wild at the basketball game, then get nostalgic by paying tribute to our athletic greats with an alumni hall of fame. Then you’ll celebrate the present with a formal dance, complete with a live DJ and a photo booth.
We save the best for the second-to-last week of classes. On Friday, it’s an outdoor concert featuring a national recording artist—in the past, we’ve welcomed Twenty One Pilots, X Ambassadors, MisterWives and New Politics. And on Saturday, the lights go out and paint goes everywhere at GlowRage.
