Program complementary to chosen major
The Honors Program
The Honors Program allows high-achieving students to take their academic experience to the next level. You’ll engage in an intellectual community of peers who not only support your curiosity, but also challenge you to question courageously. Your four years of rigorous undergraduate research will culminate in a distinctive project that you will present to the world before you even graduate. The program is selective, but the rewards are significant.
Honors Program – Outside of Class
Outside of Class
Opportunities abound for Honor students to extend learning beyond the classroom, including joining the student-led co-curricular society, the George Henry Miles Association; taking on an internship, or study abroad semester; showcasing your research at the Conference of Undergraduate Research & Scholarship; or competing for a full-ride in our Founder’s Scholarship competition. The perks of being an Honor student don’t stop there if you have a penchant for competition. The Office of Competitive Fellowships has been known to spend countless hours advising and coaching students through the application process for prestigious awards such as the Fulbright, Marshall, Rhodes, Goldwater, and Gates Cambridge Scholarships … and their record is impressive.
Special Programs – the Honors Program
Special programs are extended opportunities outside of the standard major coursework. These programs allow you to decide early on to focus in on a particular career or field you wish to pursue after graduation, you will then work with faculty advisors to prepare for the next steps toward that specialization while you are still earning your undergraduate degree.
